Henan holds a very important position in the formation and development of Chinese culture. Historical records and years of archaeological study have revealed Henans ancestors established human civilization more than 8,000 years ago and were the first to create human civilization in China. Henan is located in the Central Plains on the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River and has been the political, economic and cultural center of China for some 3,000 years, deemed the "cradle of Chinese civilization." Considered the "Museum of Chinese history and culture," more than 200 emperors spanning 20 dynasties have reigned over the province; where four of the Eight Great Ancient Capitals of China can be found in this region, Luoyang, Anyang, Kaifeng and Zhengzhou.
